I am a Leadership Learning Consultant based in Mytholmroyd, near Hebden Bridge, in Calderdale.
My own adventures in learning
I began my career in Further Education, delivering post-16 training. I moved on to work in the ICT industry where I gained 12 years’ commercial and management experience, working with partners and clients across a range of private, public and third sector organisations.
I’m an avid learner and invest heavily in my own ongoing professional development. In 1999 I studied for a Postgraduate Certificate in Marketing Management at Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) and I returned there in 2008/10 to complete an MA in Management Learning and Leadership.
My next adventure in formal learning was an MRes in Digital Innovation, working between the disciplines of design, computing and management. I’m an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, an accreditation I gained while working as a tutor at LUMS.
In 2017 I completed the 101 and Foundation programmes in contemporary Transactional Analysis (TA).
Continuing professional development
I’m passionate about the transformative potential of learning and I enjoy forging new connections between theory and everyday experience.
I learn with peers as part of an Action Learning set that has met regularly since 2015. My most recent formal learning has included advanced training in the field of Organisational Transactional Analysis, a social psychology that brings together theories of personality, communication, growth and change. I have regular 1:1 supervisory sessions to support my own personal and professional development.
I enjoy making music, especially singing. There is a thriving creative community here in Calderdale and I’ve taken part in all kinds of gigs, parades and other arts events since moving here in 2003. I also enjoy getting outdoors and have branched out from walking the hills to running amongst them (and occasionally up them too).
